Through games, motivational activities and hands-on experiences, we engage students in the issues of climate change, environmental protection and sustainability. Our goal is to spark young people’s interest so that they start asking questions, seek answers and become active advocates for positive change. We actively involve students not only in education, but also in practical activities that they implement themselves, thus supporting their development in ecological thinking and action. We believe that learning should be an experience – which is why we offer a wide range of programmes, from one-off lectures to long-term courses. We strive to clearly present the current realities of the climate crisis and offer practical solutions that each of us can apply in our daily lives. Join us on the road to a sustainable future. “We bring free and interactive environmental education to schools. Our programs are funded through the support of our corporate clients who have committed to invest in climate, ecology and sustainability education.” Our main activities include: Interactive programmes for students long-term and short-term projects, such as Ekoworkshop, Ecolympics a EKO45′. Teacher training We provide innovative training for educators, including our own methodology to support them in more effectively educating students on environmental topics. The main objective is to orient students and educators on the broad topic of sustainability, climate and ecology, with an emphasis on understanding and subsequent application in practice. The primary focus is on understanding resource conservation. Eco-Olympics Eco-Olympics is a free, digital knowledge competition for schools across the country, focusing on the topics of environment, ecology and sustainability, climate reality. Every year, thousands of students from all over Slovakia participate in the competition. In the last edition, registered 6 320 pupils and students z nearly 270 schools. The students played 1.8 million questions, with the correct answers 1.28 million. The most successful participants received prizes made from recycled ocean plastic, underlining the environmental nature of the competition. The game is organised once a year and is open to students in the second cycle of primary and secondary schools. The Eco-Olympics allows students to gain new knowledge about current environmental challenges in a playful way. Although the environment is not a separate subject in schools, our game provides an interactive format that complements traditional school Olympiads. In the future, we plan to expand the competition to other countries to reach an even wider audience and promote global environmental education. More info Ekoworkshop The Eco Workshop is an educational programme aimed at secondary school students aged 15 and over. It is organised in the form of an interactive circle where students learn about environmental protection, climate change and sustainability (the programme is specialised into 5 main themes: ocean, water, soil, biodiversity and energy). The program is practically focused, students engage in real projects that improve the quality of their communities and neighborhoods, learn practical skills, apply critical thinking, take responsibility and do real activities. The goal is to inspire the younger generation, to find among them future leaders in the field of environmental protection and sustainability. Participants can earn a certificate and occasionally engage in research expeditions. Since the 1st edition of the course, almost 100 students from all over Slovakia have passed through it, as well as several dozen teachers. More info EKO45′- One-off lectures for schools We offer one-off interactive lectures for secondary schools, introducing key environmental and sustainability topics in a playful way. Our most popular lecture, EKO45′, introduces pupils to climate reality, the principles of nature conservation and practical ways in which they themselves can contribute to reducing their ecological impact. For example, students will learn about carbon footprints, water footprints, resource conservation, why it is important to protect biodiversity or how their daily habits impact the environment. The lectures last 45 minutes and are accompanied by film demonstrations and discussions. If you are interested in giving a talk, please email us at info@planetlover.org “EKOworkshop is an innovative programme for teachers that provides them with the necessary competences for climate education. We work with current topics such as water, energy, soil and biodiversity and bring them into the classroom through experiential and interactive methods.” Teacher training Our ECO-education for teachers offers an innovative approach to climate education and sustainability education. The programme is designed for primary, secondary and university teachers as well as other educational staff. The aim is to provide educators with practical tools and methodologies that they can integrate into their teaching to effectively educate students about environmental protection. The programme consists of 5 main themes: water, ocean, soil, biodiversity and energy. Each participant will receive a Climate Education Certificate after completing 10 hours of training (a combination of face-to-face and distance learning). Our trained educators will be provided with methodologies and lesson scenarios that will enable them to bring new knowledge into the classroom in an engaging and effective way. More info Stickers that teach We are proud to present a set of ECO stickers that TEACH. They were created as a result of one of the years of our educational program EKOworkshop, which has been attended by high school students from all over Slovakia for several years. Thanks to the support of the Slovak Environmental Agency, we can now distribute them free of charge to schools all over Slovakia. We believe that even such simple but visible reminders of EKO facts can contribute to a better understanding and protection of the environment.
